Sambar is very tasty and full of energy giving food, in south Indian vegetarian cuisine sambar is most important dish, you can eat with it on rice, dosa, idly, pongal.
Ingredients:
Dhoor dhal-1/2 cup.
garlic -2 nos.
Hing - 1 pinch.
Tomato -1.
Green chilly - 2
onion - 2.
Sambar powder -1 tbsp.
Turmeric powder -1/2 tbsp.
tamarind - goose berry size(nelli kai alavu).
drumstrick(murungai kai-2)
brinjal/kadthirikai-3
mango/mangai-1
For seasoning:
Oil - 3 tsp
Mustard seeds -1 tbsp
cumin Seeds/ seeragam- 1 tbsp
curry leaves - 1 strip.
For Garnishing :
coriander leaves
Preparation:
wash and sock dhoor dhal 5 min.
keep it pressure cooker, add garlic, turmarind powder, garlic, cutted tomato, 2 green chilly, enough water close the cooker wait for 2 whistle. smash it using mathu or grind it in mixer gridner(mixy)
cut onions in slices and vegetables in midium size peace.
Method:
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds wait for temper then add curry leaves , then add onion after 2 min add vegetables wait until the raw smell gone.
Now add smashed dhal mix on it. after its boil add some tamarind juice add enough salt, leave it on boil 4 min make sure your stove simmer.
finally add coriander leaves then switch off the stove.
Your sambar is ready.
